Pine Tree District Event

Chop Shop, competed at the annual Pine Tree District Event. At the event, the team won the Team Sustainability Award which “celebrates and recognizes a team which has developed sustainable practices to have positive environmental impact and achieve long-term continuity.”


“I am thankful for the judges recognizing our team for the Team Sustainability Award. This just goes to show the hard work the team has put into the team and the community,” said Shane, a Senior and Co-Captain of the team. “I am very proud of the team’s efforts and look forward to the future of the team.” 

 

Over the course of the weekend, the team competed in over a dozen very competitive matches, and ended in 9th place overall. and had become the caption of alliance #6 during alliance selection, we had selected to align with teams 4546 "Shockwave" and 6153 " Blue Crew". Eventually we were eliminated in the quarter-Finals of the playoffs. 


“I couldn’t be prouder of the team and their performance this past weekend. We had to fight through some unanticipated adversity but people kept their heads up and worked through all the challenges.” said Mathew Gage Lead Mentor of Chop Shop 166.  “While we didn’t achieve all the goals that we had, the resilience that the team showed is a testament to their character”. 


One of the students, Laura, a Junior, won the Pine Tree Dean’s List Award.


“I’m super grateful to receive this recognition as FIRST Dean’s List District Championship Semi-Finalist. I truly believe it takes a team to not only build a Dean’s List candidate, but the future innovators of tomorrow” said Laura. “I couldn’t be more proud to be supported by such an incredible team like Chop Shop.” 


Laura will next compete to become a Dean’s List Finalist at the New England District Championships in Springfield, MA for the chance to compete at the FIRST World Championships held in Houston, Texas in April.
