Meet Downforce
Downforce is Chop Shop's newest robot for the 2024 season. Downforce has done incredibly well at its recent events ranking 60 out of the district after only one event.
The In's and Out's of Downforce
Downforce uses a swerve drivetrain because it allows for more maneuverability around defense and for quick full-field cycles. Our intake is an under-the-bumper design to protect the intake and for a greater functional width. Our arm is capable of scoring into both the amp and speaker as it is on a pivot, while also housing our main climbing hooks. The shooter is attached to the arm which can rotate, allowing the robot to score from multiple locations around the field. We implemented isolated control for the two sides of our shooterwheels to put spin on the notes as it gives us a more consistent shot. Our robot can climb using the hooks on the arm combined with passive "reaction bars" what keep the robot level when climbing.
