FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Qualifier

FTC Teams come from around New England to compete at the FTC qualifiers. Chop Shop 166 for the last few years have been privileged to host one of these qualifiers. Chop Shop sets up a field for that year's game for the teams to compete on. FTC games are played with two alliances of two teams facing off against one another. Teams will partake in two qualifiers over the season. After the qualifiers, the teams play in a bracket-style tournament, with only a few teams moving on to go compete at the state level! 

On December 21st, Chop Shop 166 hosted the FIRST  Tech Challenge Merrimack qualifier. 18 teams showed up to compete in this year's challenge "Into the Deep". They compete to put samples in low and high baskets or hang specimens on bars to score points. There is also an end game where their robot can hang on a low or high bar to score extra points. The teams had a great time competing and it was extremely exciting to watch the teams take of the challenge. Chop Shop members also had a great time hosting the event. Thanks to all Chop Shop members, parents, and all other volunteers who helped make this event possible.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Qualifier

On November 23rd, Chop Shop 166 hosted a FIRST LEGO League qualifier. 18 different teams came and competed to score as many points as possible in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. They presented their innovation project to a team of judges. The judges also rated the teams on their robot’s design. 10 of the teams that participated, qualified for the NH FLL State Championships being held on December 7th at Bedford High School.
