Drive

The Drive Team's role is exactly what it sounds like; they drive the robot at the competition.

 Two members driving. (2009)

There are two drivers, sometimes refered to as pilot and co-pilot; a human player that manipulates field objects from time to time as the pilot and a drive coach as the co-pilot. The two drivers and the human player MUST be pre-college students. The Drive Coach can be a student or mentor. This team is reponsible for driving the robot during competition. There are tryouts for the drive team each year; part of the tryout is written testing to determine if the applicants know the rules of the competition.

Driving experience is beneficial in several ways; it may improve coordination or help with applying for a job where one must remotely control something. Members of the Drive team deal with a lot of stress when they are on the field, but the cheers that erupt from the audience make it well worth it!
